Virtual queue guide
What is a virtual queue?
A virtual queue lets customers take a place in line without standing in a physical waiting line. They join from a phone or QR code, follow their place, and return when their turn is near.
The waiting line moves to the customer’s phone
- 1
Join
The customer scans a QR code or opens the business queue link.
- 2
Track
Their phone shows the current queue, approximate wait, and service status.
- 3
Return
They come back when the turn is close and staff calls their number.
Why businesses use a virtual queue
A virtual queue reduces crowding without losing the order of arrival. Clinics can let patients wait in the car, veterinary practices can separate anxious pets, and salons can let walk-ins shop nearby. Staff still controls the line from one simple dashboard.
- Customers can wait somewhere more comfortable.
- Staff answer fewer repeated “how much longer?” questions.
- Walk-ins and customers without phones can still be added by staff.
- Several counters can serve one shared queue.
Virtual queue vs. appointment booking
Appointment booking reserves a future time. A virtual queue manages the wait when service is happening now, especially for walk-ins and arrivals whose exact service time is difficult to predict. Many businesses use both: bookings for planned visits and a virtual queue for the waiting period after arrival.
